From the love for our land grow the grapes that give life to the wine. We take care of the estate with passion, innovation and without the use of herbicides and products harmful to the environment. The clean style of the wines is linked to the characteristics of our territory and to the hand and experience of our collaborators.
The territory of the municipality of San Venanzo represents a unique geological reality of its kind. Its volcanic rocks do not exist anywhere else in the world, so much so that they are classified internationally with the names of
“Venanzite” and “Umbrianite”.
In the area, 265 thousand years ago, three volcanic centers were active, the Sea of San Venanzo, the tuff ring of Pian di Celle and the smaller lapilli ring of Celli. Protagonists of violent volcanic explosions, these
eruptive centers deposited huge thicknesses of pyroclastic material, calcareous and saline, rich in phosphorus, magnesium and potassium. This type of soil generates a buffer activity that develops minerality. The salt buffers the acidity and translates into a deep stimulus for the growth of high quality grapes. This is why volcanic wines are fresh and drinkable, with a rich and balanced taste, as well as suitable for aging.
"Passion, quality, tradition and love for one's territory
are the essence of our business "
“The flocks come down to you in the humid evening. To you the Umbrian child the reluctant sheep plunges into the wave, dark meanwhile the clouds smoke over the Apennines and around the sources, large, austere, green, from the mountains sloping in a circle, Umbria looks "
Giosuè Carducci
The tour of the Priest and
the history of our farmhouse
In the book "Il giro del prete, history of the farmhouses around San Venanzo" the whole history of our farmhouse is reported, already registered in 1563. It has always been inhabited and cultivated land, excluding a period of abandonment in the 1980s. '900.
Today the cottage has been completely renovated and improved by the Affaitati family, without detracting from the charm and beauty of the original structure.
